Please join us for our June Monthly Meeting. As always, 2 speakers and networking to follow.

This month, another new location: St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens. St. Thomas has started a new Cybersecurity Leadership program with masters and doctoral degrees, and we wanted to highlight these programs to our members.

DIRECTIONS: Please come into the campus from their main entrance on NW 37th Ave, just south of Palmetto Expressway/826 (Please take 37th Avenue exit on FL 826). The guards there will know we are coming and send you on your way. There is a large gravel parking area as you come into the main campus (lot 11), or park in lot 10 next to it. We will be meeting in Bobcat Hall of Fame, which is located at Building 7 (Carroll Hall), which is south of the parking lots.

For our post meeting networking, we will be going to Shula's II: 6842 Main Street Miami Lakes, FL 33014.

Speaker 1- Dave Rickard, Cipher

As Technical Director, Dave Rickard is responsible for IT Service Delivery, oversight of Managed and Monitoring Security Services, Consulting and Sales Engineering for CIPHER. Dave sees the role of IT Service Delivery as the creation of client value through the assurance of optimal consumption of security services, and acts in the interest of client advocacy. His approach to overseeing Managed and Monitoring Security Services is to create and manage high performing teams, with a goal of eliminating defects. Consulting serves both strategic and tactical interests for him. Dave has created and directed global security programs and frameworks, with 17 of his 25 years of I.T. experience primarily dedicated to information security practices.

Title of the Talk: The Prevention Bias

Talk Abstract: This presentation sheds light on how current Cyber Security efforts are still skewed towards Prevention efforts, and their implications for Enterprise Security. It also discusses the need to incorporate Monitoring, Alerting and Response as key elements in a sound Cyber Security investment portfolio.
